Williams crashes out of Australian Open after dramatic loss

Serena Williams is out of the Australian Open after a dramatic collapse against Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals.

The American, who was seeking a 24th Grand Slam title, led 5-1 in the final set but failed to convert four match points and eventually lost 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Pliskova will now face Naomi Osaka, who booked her place in the last-four, with a thumping victory over Elina Svitolina.

The US Open champion dominated the number six seed, winning 6-4, 6-1.
