Thailand to hold first general election since coup on March 24

Thailand’s first general election since the military seized power in a 2014 coup will be held on March 24. 

This means a new government is expected to be in place “by the middle of the year”.

Last month, the military government lifted a ban on political activities to allow parties to campaign.
