The UK Prime Minister has confirmed she will trigger Article 50 before the end of March 2017, setting in motion the two-year process of leaving the European Union. Theresa May’s televised pledge on Sunday morning means the UK will exit the 28-member bloc by spring 2019, before the next general election. She told The Andrew Marr Show she intended to provide “a greater degree of clarity” over the ins and outs of leaving the EU and stressed she was committed towards guaranteeing workers’ rights in British law. May also announced plans for a ‘great repeal bill’ to incorporate all EU regulations in UK law as soon as Brexit comes into effect.
