The opening and closing films have been announced for The Dubai International Film Festival. The film that will commence the eight day event is called “Room” and is a story of a woman and her son who were held in captivity for five years. The closing film of the 12th edition of the emirate’s premiere film festival is “The Big Short” – a story about four outsiders who predicted the global economic collapse that stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt. Speaking at the festival’s press conference today, DIFF’s chairman Abdulhamid Juma explains why they have chosen a film about survival to kick off the film fest.
