Mauricio Pochettino sacked by Spurs

IAN KINGTON / AFP

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Mauricio Pochettino after five years as manager.

He led the Premier League club to the Champions League final only six months ago, but Chairman Daniel Levy says he reluctantly made the decision to relieve the Argentine of his duties because of a poor start to the season.

The team are currently stranded 14th in the league table after winning just three games this season.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is the favourite to replace Pochettino.
