Motorists in Dubai will see revised speed limits on five key roads from November 1, with limits increasing on three streets and decreasing on two.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination with Dubai Police, announced the changes following a review of traffic flow, road design and safety conditions.
The revised limits will apply in both directions on the affected sections:
Al Asayel Street: the limit will rise from 60 km/h to 80 km/h, between Oud Maitha Street and Al Meydan Street
Al Mustaqbal Street: the limit will increase from 60 km/h to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street
Latifa bint Hamdan Street: from 60 km/h to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road
Al Rebat Street: the speed limit will drop from 100 km/h to 90 km/h, between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road
Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street: the limit will decrease from 80 km/h to 70 km/h, between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street
The authorities say the changes follow detailed engineering and traffic studies aimed at improving road safety, easing traffic flow and aligning speed limits with road conditions.
New speed limit signs will be installed, and speed cameras will be adjusted to reflect the changes ahead of their implementation.
