The distribution of all print newspapers, magazines and marketing materials will be temporarily suspended in the UAE from Tuesday, March 24.
The decision was taken by the UAE National Media Council as part of preventive measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Regular subscribers of the publications and large outlets in shopping centres will be exempt from the new rule, provided health and safety precautions are met.
The ban does not apply to awareness publications approved by the health authorities.
The affected printed materials include advertisements in residential complexes, restaurants, hotels, health centres and clinics, waiting halls in public sector and private sector services centres and other places where multiple people will use the same materials.
