An man has been arrested in Ras Al Khaimah after being caught storing over 18 tonnes of illegal fireworks.

Police, working on a tip off to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), discovered 1,038 boxes of fireworks and firecrackers, weighing 18.5 tonnes, which they believe were being sold from a small house on a farm in the emirate.

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, warned the public against buying illegal fireworks, citing safety concerns and the threat of criminal charges.

He also praised the work of the CID, the Weapons and Explosives Department of the Ministry of Interior, the Special Tasks Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, and the Mamoura Comprehensive Police Station, to limit the spread and sale of fireworks, stressing that the responsibility of security and public safety is not limited to the police force alone.
