Dubai International (DXB) retained its position as the busiest international airport in December, with capacity rising 15 per cent from last month.
That's according to aviation consultancy OAG's latest rankings, calculated on the basis of seat capacity.
DXB was around one million seats ahead of the number two-ranked London Heathrow Airport.
Amsterdam, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Istanbul airports rounded out the top five spots.
DXB returned to 100 per cent operational capacity earlier this month, following the opening of the final phase of Terminal 3's Concourse A.
