Heavyweights Germany, Netherlands and Belgium have registered big wins in the European Championship qualifiers.

Germany handed Northern Ireland their first defeat of the qualifying campaign following a 2-0 victory in Belfast.

In the other Group C match, Netherlands thrashed Estonia 4-0, thanks to two goals from Ryan Babel as well as one each from Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum.

In Group I, Kevin De Bruyne set up first-half goals for Romelu Lukaku, Thomas Vermaelen and Toby Alderweireld as Belgium crushed Scotland 4-0.

Elsewhere, Azerbaijan held Croatia to a 1-1 draw in Baku, Russia edged Kazakhstan 1-0, while Poland and Austria played out a goalless draw.
