Shane Lowry has won The Open Championship to claim his first major title.

The reigning Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship winner finished on 15 under par, six shots ahead of Tommy Fleetwood on a windy and rainy final day at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile America's Tony Finau was third, ending the tournament seven shots behind Lowry.

The Irishman won this year's Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January by a shot over Richard Sterne.
