Yuzvendra Chahal eclipsed Dwayne Bravo to become the top wicket taker in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Rajasthan Royals leg spinner took his 184th wicket when he dismissed Kolkata Knight Riders' Nitish Rana, in what was Chahal's 143rd match.

Bravo took 183 wickets in 161 games.

Spinners dominate the wicket-takers' list in the IPL, taking four spots in the top five bowlers' list.

Leg spinner Piyush Chawla of the Mumbai Indians took third place with 174 wickets in 176 matches, followed by Amit Mishra of Lucknow Super Giants with 172 wickets in 160 matches.

Ravichandran Ashwin of Rajasthan Royals stepped in at fifth place with 171 wickets in 196 matches.

Chahal, who won the Purple cap last year, is the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023 with 21 wickets, two more than Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan.

Rajasthan Royals powered to a 9-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders with Yuzvendra Chahal shining with the ball taking 4 wickets which restricted KKR to 149/8 in their 20 overs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals came out all guns blazing, with Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the charge with a scintillating knock of 98 runs off just 47 balls, with 12 fours and 5 sixes. Royals completed the win comfortably with 9 wickets in hand and 41 balls still left to play.

Chahal's performance came in for special praise with former team Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh comparing his stature in the IPL with Virat Kohli.

"If you compare his stature with any IPL batter, it will be higher than theirs. We forget bowlers at times because we give more importance to batters. He is as big a name as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav if we see his performances," Harbhajan said during a post-match discussion.
