AED 1.8 trillion is needed annually in investments to tackle climate change. According to the REthinking Energy 2015 Report, published by IRENA today, growth in renewables in the transport, heating and cooling industries also needs to grow. The study says that doubling the share of renewables by 2030 could deliver around half of the emissions reductions that’s needed. This is needed to keep the rise in average global temperatures within two degrees and prevent what the report describes as catastrophic climate change.
