Emirates is struggling to expand its fleet because Dubai’s airport is too small. The airline’s President, Tim Clarke says he wants to order 100 new Airbus A380 superjumbos, but there’s no room at the city’s International Airport. Industry leaders say Saudi Arabian Airlines is having to keep a close eye on its fleet expansion plans as well. Experts say air congestion in the region is increasing, and air strikes over Iraq, Syria and Yemen are leaving only narrow corridors for commercial traffic. The UAE's civil aviation regulator will soon restructure its airspace. It expects air traffic to double in 20 years, a growth which it currently can’t handle.
