If your electric car is registered in Dubai, then you no longer need to pay for parking in the Emirate.
That's according to Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which said the two-year exemption kicked off on July 1 of this year.
Owners of e-cars in Dubai will not have to register with the RTA, with the scheme being rolled out automatically.
"It complements a previous initiative launched in 2018 designating parking slots in various parts of Dubai to electric vehicles exclusively," highlighted Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, adding that 1,803 e-vehicles are registered in the Emirate.
"It contributes to improving the air quality, curbing carbon emissions and enhancing sustainability besides encouraging the public to own this type of vehicles."
However, e-cars registered in other Emirates are not listed under this scheme.
The move is in line with Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy.
