UAE residents will soon be using electricity generated by Barakah Nuclear Plant, the first-ever nuclear power plant in the region.

Nawah Energy Company that received the operating licence earlier this week has said they have started loading the nuclear fuel.

The plant once operational will contribute 25 per cent of the UAE's energy consumption.

Once the fuel assemblies are loaded, a series of tests will be held before it starts generating power.
