UAE leaders mark Union Pledge Day by renewing commitment to nation's unity

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led messages on social media to mark Union Pledge Day, "renewing commitment to the principles of unity established by the late Sheikh Zayed and his brothers".

Taking to social media platform X, Sheikh Mohamed said, "The signing of the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution on 18 July 1971 marked a defining moment in our nation's history.

"As we continue to build on the achievements of the UAE, we remain guided by the values that shaped its foundation, ensuring they continue to inspire future generations."

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, also marked Union Pledge Day with a video post on social media, saying it's a daywhen "we renew our solidarity" to our nation.

"On Union Pledge Day, we remember the day our Founding Fathers united around the vision of one nation and laid the foundations of our Union and its Constitution. Today, we renew our pledge to safeguard our Union, strengthen its foundations, protect its achievements, and build a brighter future for generations to come," Sheikh Mohammed wrote.

The UAE marks Union Pledge Day on July 18, commemorating the Founding Fathers' signing of the Declaration of the Union and the Constitution in 1971— an historic milestone that launched a journey of development and progress.

The occasion honours the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Founding Rulers, whose commitment to unity laid the foundations of the nation.

It also renews the country's pledge to uphold the values of loyalty, national unity and continued progress.
