The UAE has dismissed social media reports suggesting that malls in the country were going to be closed for two weeks, and restaurants switching to home delivery services.
In a statement released on national news agency WAM, the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Council (NCEMA) urged the public to seek news updates only from official sources.
People have been advised to ensure the authenticity of the information before sharing it on social media.
The NCEMA also posted a warning on their official Twitter handle, reminding people that violators could face legal action and fines.
