Prayer rooms in shopping malls and commercial centres in the UAE will reopen from Monday, July 20 at 30 per cent capacity with strict precautionary measures in place.
A joint directive has been issued by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments as well as the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).
They have prohibited gatherings before and after prayers, while it's mandatory for worshippers to maintain a distance of 2 metres and to download Al Hosn smartphone app.
Single-use prayer mats will be provided in the rooms, but worshippers will have to read the Qur’an on their personal electronic devices.
The halls will be sterilised and closed after every prayer.
In conjunction with the partial easing of restrictions on movement and in order to gradually return to normal life, we announce the reopening of prayer rooms in shopping centers and towers starting July 20, with a maximum capacity of 30% and following the precautionary measures. pic.twitter.com/hwQWFTlaSB
