Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have announced an increase in speed limits on sections of Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street, effective September 30, 2024.
The speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will rise to 100 km/h between Dubai Al Ain Road and Academic City Roundabout, while it will be set at 90 km/h from Academic City Roundabout to Al Khawaneej Street.
Al Amardi Street will also have a standardised speed limit of 90 km/h between Al Khawaneej Street and Emirates Road.
These adjustments come after a comprehensive study by the RTA, aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing road safety. Recent developments have expanded both streets, adding more lanes and upgrading intersections.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street has seen significant upgrades, including a new overpass at Dubai Al Ain Road, with further improvements expected to be completed by 2030.
Al Amardi Street has also been expanded, and the roundabout at Al Khawaneej Street has been converted into a signal-controlled intersection to improve safety.
