UAE leaders hail COP28's historic consensus in Dubai

The UAE's leaders have hailed the role of COP28 in setting new standards for climate action.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked all the participating delegations that worked together to achieve the historic 'UAE Consensus' to accelerate climate action.

He also commended the local and international teams that contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

Sheikh Mohamed added that the UAE will continue to work hand-in-hand with the global community to advance all efforts aimed at securing a more sustainable future.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also welcomed the 'UAE Consensus' at COP28, which sets out an ambitious climate agenda to keep 1.5°C within reach.

He highlighted how the conference produced significant results and mobilised around $85 billion in funding, setting the pace for a new era in climate action.

"We thank all the participating countries and delegations who worked to make COP28 a success, which established new standards in climate action and consolidated the UAE’s position as a major player in building a sustainable future," Sheikh Mohammed said on X.

He also thanked all governmental, security, organisational and political teams, as well as the thousands of employees and volunteers who contributed to the success of the global event.
