Patients in the UAE are becoming less reliant on antibiotics.
That's according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), which says the Emirates has seen a 43 per cent drop in the use of antibiotics.
The figures were revealed on the sidelines of an international conference on antimicrobial resistance in Dubai.
Officials praised the UAE cabinet law issued against buying antibiotics without prescription and said the country has introduced the latest state-of-the-art antibiotics to fight bacteria resistant infections.
They also highlighted resistance of microbes to antibiotics as a major health risk, which could become the leading cause of death by 2050.
