The UAE has stepped up support for those affected by the recent floods in Sudan.
Teams from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) have established three new shelter camps in the affected villages in River Nile State.
They are supervising the evacuation and accommodation of residents, as per the highest safety and security standards.
A camp, comprising over 50 tents, has been set up in Al Fahlab village, one with more than 75 tents has been established in Abu Khsous, while the third one has been set up in Al Masid, with a total of 200 tents housing over 1,000 people.
Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, Head of the ERC Delegation in Sudan told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the ERC’s field teams are coordinating with Sudanese authorities to ease the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis in the country.
The ERC is also supervising the distribution of aid, benefitting over 140,000 displaced persons in some of the provinces most affected by the disaster.
The provision of Emirati aid to the Sudanese people is taking place under the directives of the UAE’s leadership.
