Passionate Emirati designers are being offered the chance to give Dubai's public parks a design makeover.

The initiative has been launched by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in cooperation with the Dubai Municipality.

It aims to promote community participation in developing more engaging and interactive parks and encouraging awareness about sustainable urban design.

Submissions can include designs for elements of public parks as well as concepts for events and activities.

The initiative targets urban designers, architects, interior designers, event organisers and university students, and is open only to UAE nationals.

The deadline for submissions (Branddubai@mediaoffice.ae) is July 11.
